Steven Gotta
December 03, 2017
Steve Gotta, 63, entered into heaven on December 3, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1954, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Steve graduated from Knoxville High School in 1972. He was an owner/operator truck driver, leasing to several companies throughout the years. Steve cherished his family and friends and their time spent together. He also had a great love of animals and nature.
Steve had a zest for life and loved giving to others any way he could. Steve was an incredible mentor and teacher to many over the years. One of his favorite quotes was “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Steve was also a great man of faith who always led by example. His greatest desire was to spread the word of God and make heaven more crowded.
Steve is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gotta; children, Clint (Andrea) Gotta and Courtney (Derek) Christenson; grandchildren, Jeremy, Austin, and Jack; mother, Linda Gotta; brothers, Tim (Betsy Bellamy) Gotta and John (Terri) Gotta; sisters, Lisa (Dave) Ridnouer and Valerie Gotta; as well as other loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Gotta; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary and John Dinnes.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
In loving memory of Steve, memorial contributions will be received by the family and designated at a later date.

Phyllis,
We are so sorry to hear about the death of Steve.
Kelcy just sent around the notice.
The last time that you and I talked, a month or so ago, it sounded like things were getting serious and you and Steve were very likely facing some pretty bad news.
Ann and I have had Steve on our prayer list ever since then.
Now we will continue to pray for you and your family.
I did not know Steve, other than what I learned from talking to you. But it sounds like he was a great guy and someday you will see him again in heaven.
It seems you have a strong faith, so I hope you can find peace with his death and the end of his suffering. You have many friends who hopefully can give you the support and encouragement you need, to get thru this difficult time.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
May God Bless you and your family in this time of loss.

Steve had a big impact on our lives. He was inspirational, kind, supportive, and fun. I will always remember that he made excellent pies and taught me (Cherie) how to make homemade whipped topping. I have always made it from scratch since then. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Phyllis, Clint, and sister-in-law Courtney.
