Josephine Sparks

Josephine Sparks, 89, passed away on November 30, 2017 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines, on January 26, 1928, to Frank and Louiza (DeMoss) Cross.

Josephine was a homemaker and enjoyed watching TV, having her hair done, shopping, quilting and crafts. She was a member of Chesterfield United Methodist Church and Rebekah’s Lodge.

Josephine is survived by her children, Joann (Roger) Hopper, Cecel (Rose) Sparks, Jr., Patricia (Forest) Collins, Kathy (Art) Reisinger, Curtis (Vicki) Sparks, and Mark (Diane) Sparks; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and sister, Betty Aller. Along with a host of family and beloved friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a granddaughter, 2 great grandson’s and husband Cecel.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Valley View Village for the excellent care and compassion that was given to their mother during her time there.
