Charles Schamerhorn, Sr.

Charles Schamerhorn, Sr. age 69, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. He was born on October 13, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margo Schamerhorn; sister, Connie Schamerhorn; son, Earl (Cheryl) Schamerhorn; daughters, Melody (Tootie) Schamerhorn, Michelle Schamerhorn, and Melissa Schamerhorn; son, C.J. Schamerhorn; step-daughter, Kathi Nichols; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel (Beer) Schamerhorn; father, Earl M. Schamerhorn; brother, Jack Schamerhorn; and sisters, Dorothy Lange (Schamerhorn) and Sharon (Schamerhorn) Kutzner.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017, at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, 2747 E Madison Ave., Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, December 2nd, at the church, with burial to follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
