Ralph Eugene Kissel passed away peacefully at home Tuesday afternoon, October 24th, 2006. A memorial service will be held 6PM, Friday October 27, 2006 with visitation from 4-6PM prior to the service at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Ralph was born January 25, 1931 in Des Moines, the son of John and Beulah Kissel. As a young boy, Ralph spent his summers as a caddy at the Wakonda Club where he developed his passion for golf. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and later served in the Army. After completing his military service, Ralph attended Drake University where he played on the Drake golf team. After graduating from Drake, Ralph began his career at Banker’s Trust where he later retired after 30 years. During his retirement, Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing golf all over the country.
Ralph had an enthusiasm for life that touched everyone who knew him. His grandchildren will always cherish his endless devotion and affection. His unconditional love was a gift that will always live on. His generous spirit will forever be in the hearts of his family.
Those left to honor Ralph’s memory are his wife, Phyllis; his children, David (Chrys) Judd of Milo, Douglas Judd of Des Moines, Debra (Rich) Moon of Des Moines, Dirk (Lori) Kissel of West Des Moines; his grandchildren Marshall and Molly Moon, Kirsti, Kendra and Kara Kissel, Lacy Andre and Luke and Hannah Judd; his 4 great grandchildren and his sister Alice Tillson. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beulah Kissel and his brother, Johnny Kissel.
Ralph’s family wants to give special thanks to his nurses, Kathy and Connie from Hospice of Central Iowa.
