Homer Willis

Homer A. Willis, 86, of Des Moines died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Homer was retired from Don’s Super-Valu where he had been the meat department manager. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving on Kodiak Island, Alaska and on the USS Chicago. He was a 1939 graduate of Norwalk High School, a member of the Ft. Des Moines Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, enjoyed traveling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife Faye, his children Larry (Barbara Decker) Willis of Des Moines and Janice (Dick) Hansell of Des Moines, his sister Nida (Chuck) Haydon of Phoenix, his grandchildren Mindy Wright and Casey Decker as well as his 4 great grandchildren Cheyenne, Sierra, Grace and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Elsie Willis and his brother Wayne Willis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Des Moines Presbyterian Church.
Homer was a very loving and kind person. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
