Josephine Bewyer

Josephine “Jo” Louise Bewyer, 90, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, with burial to follow at Newton Union Cemetery.
Jo was born October 9, 1917 in Ottumwa, to Blanche and Pearl Santen. Jo and her husband Joesph were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in October 1937. Jo worked at Grandview College for many years. She enjoyed her work and the students. She belonged to Simpson United Methodist Church and Eastgate Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Jo is survived by her children, David (Sheryl) Bewyer of Cedar Falls, and Nancy (Jim) Shepherd of Pleasant Hill, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Boot of Pleasant Hill, previously of Mason City. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.
