Robert L. Sigmund, Sr., age 80, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bob was born September 15, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to William and Ruth Sigmund. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities. He was a lifelong member of Capital Masonic Lodge #110 and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Bob worked for Delavan Manufacturing Company for 23 years, and went on to retire from John Deere after many years of service. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verna Sigmund; daughter, Sheryl Sigmund (Teresa Fritz); son, Robert Sigmund, Jr. (Marlene Sigmund); grandchildren, Justin Sigmund, Aaron and Megan Fritz; brothers and sister, David, Charles and Donald Sigmund and Dorothy Wright; and other extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Sigmund; brothers, John and Richard Sigmund; sisters, Virginia Sigmund and Susan Kiefer; and his grandson, Jeremy Sigmund.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 20th, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21st, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to Highland Park Presbyterian in loving memory of Bob.

so sorry to read of Roberts passing. I can remember all the dinners we had with your family, my grandmother Allie Burns, loved to come see her sister Grace. We spent many a Sunday at your home.
