Mike Mitchell

Mike Mitchell, 90, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Des Moines. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday, April 7 2008 with a rosary said at 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines.
Mike was born September 7, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa to Emma and Frank Mitchell. He met and married Eva Marie Hennigan August 21, 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps. during WWII. He received the Bronze Star for valor. He was owner of M&M Vending Company in Des Moines.
Mike is survived by his children: Michael Ann “Mickey” (Larry) Tibbetts of Urbandale, Lynn Marie Mitchell of Des Moines, Geri (Doug) Kent of Kansas City, KS, Randy Mitchell of Des Moines, Trish (Mark) Oelerich of Harlingen, TX, and Mark (Joel Hartzler) Mitchell of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren: Sandra (Colin) Murphy, Shari (Ron) Chaney, Lindsey (Brent) Canhan, Andy Kent, Nicole, and Shawn “Mikey” Mitchell, Jeff, Scott, and Katie Jo Oelerich; 4 great grandsons; and his sister Geraldine (Bob) Jack of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his daughter-in-law Brenda Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House in loving memory of Mike.
