Rose Moon

Rose Marie (Clapp) Moon, 76, of Pleasant Hill. Rose’s daughter and granddaughter held her hands as she left this life into Jesus’ loving arms from a stroke Monday morning, March 31, 2008. Mom went to meet Dad in Heaven at the South Middle Gate.
Rose was born August 25, 1931 in Henry County, Indiana to Henly Clapp and Mary Bertha Paquette and she grew up in Middletown, IN. She married Bill E. Schmalfeldt in 1950 and they later parted. She married Bruce A. Moon in 1963 and was married to him until he passed in 1999. Rose lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, Coldwater, Michigan, and Florida before moving to Pleasant Hill after Dad passed in 1999.
Rose was a wonderful soul who lived a blessed life. She was an artist and spent many years of her life oil painting pictures of landscapes. She had a knack for making plants and flowers grow and enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife when she lived along the lakes of Indiana, Michigan, & Florida. Rose had a quest for knowledge and loved reading a good book, the Bible, or solving crossword puzzles. Her passion was loving children, especially her two great grandchildren, Gina and Jackson. She taught Sunday School at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, IN and at Northview Christian Church in Coldwater, MI. She was a teacher’s assistant for elementary school children and blessed many of them with her words of wisdom, stories and listening ear. She had many friends wherever she lived and she leaves behind a family who will sorely miss her.
She is survived by two daughters, Andria (Randy) Summy of Des Moines, and Angela (Dr. Stephen) Brown of Carmel, IN; 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Goshon of Norwalk, Jayna (John) Wojciak of Denver, CO, Trent Brown of Indianapolis, IN, & Katie Brown, of Indianapolis, IN; 3 brothers, Henly (Nancy) Clapp of Westfield, IN, Dick (Shirley) Clapp of Middletown, IN and Jerry (Carol) Clapp of Anderson, IN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, and her son, Bill Schmalfeldt, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2008 at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Drive, Rising Sun, Iowa 50327. Burial to follow at Rising Sun Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home in Altoona, Iowa is handling the arrangements.
