Beulah Rodecap

Beulah Rodecap, 85, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa, with burial following at Coulter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines.
Beulah was born July 3, 1922, on her family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa. Beulah was married to Joseph Rodecap on January 4, 1975. She worked at Swartz Dress Shop in Hampton, Iowa; Standard Oil in both Mason City and Des Moines and retired as a claims processor on June 30, 1987, from Principal in Des Moines. Beulah was an active member of Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, the Des Moines Garden Club and many other community organizations. She worked as a volunteer for several organizations, as well. She and her husband Joe, were honored as Neighbors of the Week by the Des Moines Register. First and foremost, Beulah was very devoted to her family, who loved her dearly.
Beulah is survived by her husband, Joseph Rodecap; sister-in-law, Lois Johansen; sister, Rhoda (Jack) Jorgensen; brothers, Wendell “Lump” (Maxine) Johansen and Glenn (Sandy) Johansen; nephew, Mark (LuAnn) Johansen; nieces, Jane (Al) Eilderts, Anne (Bryce) Claypool, Sheri (Keith) Bandle, Holly Kjergaard, Jan (Mike) Jorgensen-Lockhorst, Carol (Don) Foster, Julie (Tom) Walker, Janet (Don) Borcherding and Jill (Ken) Hastey; dear friend and caretaker, Sharon Rhodes; stepchildren, John (Roberta) Rodecap and Nadene (Bruce) Lautenschlager; 17 great-nephews and great-nieces; seven step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Hannah (Petersen) Johansen; brother, Dale Johansen; step-daughter, Marlene Roberts and her nephew–in-law, Stanley Kjergaard.
