Robert Lawrence Stoll was born to Lawrence and Glenna Stoll on January 26, 1925 and passed away on March 22, 2008. Bob lived his entire life in the Bondurant area. He grew up on the homesteaded family farm and took over the farm operation at the age of 25 when his father passed away. On June 30, 1946 Bob married Dorothy Olson of Mitchellville. They lived on the family farm for 35 years and continued farming until 1973 when he went to work for Crows Hybrids. He continued working in sales for Crows until his retirement in 1987.
Bob was a life-long member of the Bondurant Christian Church where he served as board chair, elder and trustee. He also served his community as a city council member and a school board member. He was a 58 year member of the Lions Club and was a recipient of the Lion’s Warren Coleman Award. Bob enjoyed travel, golf, family activities and bull sessions with the boys at the co-op elevator.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy, and two brothers: Glenn of Enterprise, OR and Russ of Green Valley, AZ. He is also survived by their four children: Roger (Jinnie) of Pella, Nancy Christensen (Ron) of Austin, MN, Glenn (Pat) of Collbran, CO and Marty (Beth) of Wabasha, MN. Bob and Dorothy have ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Bondurant Christian Church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant Christian Church.
