Hildreth Oldham

Hildreth F. Oldham, 93, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Norwalk Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Hildreth was born October 4, 1914 in Melcher, IA to Harry and Julia Wadle. She lived in Des Moines since 1933. Hildreth worked as a clerk and in the personnel department for F.W. Woolworth for 30 years until her retirement in 1976. She enjoyed spending time in Clear Lake, IA and loved ballroom dancing especially at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake and the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines. She also loved gardening and took great pride in her yard and flowers, receiving the weekly award from her neighborhood association on several occasions.
Hildreth is survived by her daughter, Vonnie Gibbons of Newport Beach, CA; son, Robert (Chau) Oldham of Des Moines; sister, Jean Nelson of Boone, IA; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Oldham; grandson, Jamie Gibbons; and her great-granddaughter, Bailey Beatty.
