I am probably the last college classmate Yijun met. We had lunch together last December in Beijing and Yijun brought great gifts for me and my kid. I was occupied with brother's wedding around that time, and couldn't find suitable gift and forgot to get some gift for his son. I felt quite sorry for this and planned to send some better gift next time we meet.
Yijun has been very gentle and careing for other people. He is not the kind of people busy with work, he set up a photo blog for his son and brought him to fishing in weekends. I thought he was quite satisfied with his life before we met, I should have talked with him for longer time and invited him to visit my home in sjz. Sometimes I feel we had just too much time spent for meaningless things and not enough time for our friends and family. That's quite regretable in the end.
May Yijun rest in peace. I miss you always as a buddy.

Last time we communicated, Yijun sent me a Christmas card from China, wishing me Happy Christmas. I still have it with other letters I keep. After he moved to Iowa, I was told about his idyllic life there, going out fishing with his son on weekends. I was happy for him having a wonderful life in the heart of America.
Yijun and I lived in the same dorm for 5 years. He was a wonderful person, very disciplined. He could take cold shower in winter, which took courage and fortitude to do. He could make push-ups with one arm in the evening, before going to bed. I still cannot do it. I never had pig feet. One day, to celebrate one's birthday, four of us got some pig feet and finished them with relish in dorm room 321. The steam pipes had problems in our dorm room. How many times we had to hammer the steam pipes to get heat in the winter.
Yijun, Wang wei, Dajun, Wang gang (later Zhujinag), Xiaoqin, Zhujiang and I often went to the classroom to study. It was sometimes difficult to have a bench so we often kept a place for each other if one was late.
There are a lot of good memories from dorm room 321. I wish we had talked to each other after you arrived in Iowa. I regret I didn't make the call.
May Yijun rest in peace.

Dear Yijun's family members,
As a good fiend and a former college roommate of Yijun, I would like to express my deepest sorrow upon the loss of this great human life at such an early stage of his life which otherwise would continue to shine.
My whole heart goes out to every and each of you, and please be strong as this most difficult time of ours is going by.
Yijun, we loved you and may you rest in peace...
