Juniece Close

Juniece Close, 93, passed away November 11, 2017 at Kavanagh on 56th.

Juniece was born July 21, 1924 in Des Moines. She grew up on the South side of Des Moines. During WWII, she worked as a welder. Juniece married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Close. She loved being a homemaker and raising her three children. Juniece also had a profound influence on her grandchildren. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Juniece enjoyed sewing and going to garage sales. She always had a project, always had something to do and always made time to talk to you. She never met a stranger. Juniece loved living and lived a good long life.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sandra Close and Sherry (Fred) Brewer; grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff) Jolley, Renae (Art) Heikkila, Bud (DeAnna) Doland, Katy Brewer and Cory Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Close, Sr.; sister, Bettie Dalton; brother, Billy Marsh; son, Robert Close, Jr.; and her grandson, Michael Close.

The family will greet friends Friday, November 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Juniece will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
