Michael Robert Close, 40, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, October 29, 2017. He was born on September 21, 1977, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert and Sharon Close.
Michael worked as an electrician technician and was a proud member of Local Union 347. Michael loved his family. He enjoyed playing video games, fishing, walking his dog, dancing, grilling, doing practical jokes, helping and giving to anyone whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Close; mother, Sharon (Dr. Robert) Maas; sister, Corissa “Cory” Wilson; sons, Cody Close and Tyler Close; daughter, Brittney Close; granddaughter, Alexandria Close; aunt, Donna Gardner; nieces, Makayla and Miranda Wilson, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Robert Close, Jr. and his step-father, Richard Yeager.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral service at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny, 520 NW 36th St, Ankeny, IA 50023.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Michael’s family.

I believe our grandson, Nathan, and I met you and your family at a Bring A Big Person Camp many years ago. You and Mike were so very kind to Nathan, who is a special needs young man and needed help to do parts of the program.
We are shocked to learn of Michael's death and are keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.
May the many warm memories you have of Mike comfort you now and always.

So sorry for your loss.. Even though I didn't really know Michael and for that matter know you as I would like to ..we are family. If there is anything I can do please let me know.would love to come but it's a long ways from Indianapolis..your family is in my heart and in my prayers!!

I'm so absolutely sorry for your loss. He hung out with Matt Stoll and the whole group in middle school. Mike would always be the one to wake-up in the recliner on Saturday mornings. I always enjoyed his company. Well Mike you are with Paul Stoll, Matt Stoll and Shane Mabley. RIP. Any family members please don't be afraid to reach out. We feel your pain, kinda, in different ways.

I was an associate at Urbandale High School and had Michael in my room. He was a little pistol but I enjoyed him very much. He was always nice to me. I gave him a ride home numerous times. RIP Mike. Prayers to your family.
