Verl E. McDaniel

Verl Eugene McDaniel son of Herbert and Letha “Ellen” (Jones) McDaniel was born April 9, 1930 in Des Moines. He passed away at Mill Pond in Ankeny on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the age of 87.

Verl retired from Mid-Continent Bottlers in Des Moines in 1992. He enjoyed walking and riding his bicycle. He also enjoyed wood carving and was a member of Mid-Iowa Wood Carvers for many years.

Verl is survived by his son, Michael (Jeannine) McDaniel; daughter, Debra (Richard) Petty; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives.

Verl was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Hodina and sister, Marilyn Hotchkiss.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 12 to 2 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street. Verl will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Point Hospice in loving memory of Verl.
