Jean Marie Van Ginkel Yakish

Jean Marie Van Ginkel Yakish, 92, passed away October 27, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center.

Jean was born June 18, 1925 to Archie and Hazel Gray in Des Moines. She retired from the HyVee Bakery where she had worked for several years. Jean loved collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia was a member of the Coca-Cola Club. She also enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her son, Don Van Ginkel; stepson, Terry Yakish; granddaughter, Angela “Annie” Krogmeier; great-grandchildren, Allison Krogmeier and Danny Cowden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Van Ginkel; second husband, Warren “Pete” Yakish; daughter, Marla Van Ginkel; and her sons, John and Dick Van Ginkel.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, November 2nd at the funeral home followed by burial at Elm Grove Cemetery.
