Dorothy M. Brauer

Dorothy Brauer, 93, passed away October 29, 2017, at the Urbandale Health Care Center. She was born May 13, 1924, to Earl and Vera Starnes in Denver, Colorado.
Dorothy retired from K-Mart on Hickman Road in 1986 after 20 years of service. She was a member of Miller United Methodist Church where she was very involved throughout the years.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Janice DuVall of Springfield, MO and Deanna Brauer of Altoona, IA; sons, Charles (Nancy) Brauer of Alvin, TX and James (Linda) Brauer of Ankeny, IA; 17 grandchildren and many great and great great-grandchildren; as well as her brothers, Donald Starnes of Grimes, IA and Sam Starnes of Thermopolis, WY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Brauer; daughter, Betty Jean; parents, Earl and Vera Starnes; brothers, Walter Starnes and Edwin Tornquist; and a grandson, Chad Brauer.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 31st from 5-8 p.m.

Aunt Dorothy, Jesus called you home to end your pain and suffering. I'm glad I got to spend time with you over the last few years. I will always remember your laugh and the Brauer picnics.
