Alfred Gene Rickabaugh

Alfred Gene Rickabaugh, age 69, passed away quietly on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on December 9, 1947 to Clark and Virginia Rickabaugh in Des Moines.

Alfred served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict at a military support base. Alfred worked for the railroad as an engineer for 22 years, drove truck and worked for Firestone for 7 years before retiring. He liked to fish, ride his motorcycle and tinker in his garage. Alfred was a Master Mason of the East Gate Lodge 630. He was known to his friends as “Gene-o”. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice; his son, Aaron; two brothers, James and John; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Alice.

Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3601 East Court Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50317. Following please join us at Moose Lodge, 2515 Wedgewood Road, Des Moines, IA 50317 at 2 p.m. for a luncheon and gathering.
