A gathering to celebrate Jay's life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Blazing Saddle, 416 E. 5th Street in Des Moines.

I just learned of your passing, two months late. I'm so sorry I missed it. I think I will always remember your infectious personality. The one memory I have that best describes you was that day so many years ago (while we were dating) that I went gown shopping with you at Merle Hay mall. The ladies that worked in the store asked you to model a beautiful red gown through the store; and you jumping at the chance. You looked so good in it I ended up buying it for you on a whim.

My most sincere condolences on the loss of your family member. Jay was a beacon of light for all that he came in contact with. His giving sprit, ability to make a person laugh and dedication to the LGBTQ community was unsurpassed and will live on in the lives he touched.
