Linda Larson
October 23, 2017
Linda Kathleen Larson passed away peacefully on her 75th birthday. She was born on October 23, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ralph and Gladys Lloyd. Linda was married to Robert Larson of Altoona for nearly 35 years. She worked at the Altoona Public Library for 5 years and later enjoyed a 20 plus year career with Polk County. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Julie Svec (Barry) and Jill Piagentini (Vic) of Johnston; grandsons Riley, Mitchell, and Alex Svec, and Anthony, Bobby, and Tommy Piagentini.
She was a spirited woman who enjoyed a large group of friends that included her golf and poker partners, her traveling companions and her Solo Group of which she was a founding member. She maintained her witty and sarcastic sense of humor throughout her illness and never failed to bring a smile or a chuckle to her family and her caregivers.
We are so grateful to her wonderful care team, especially the staff of Martina Place Assisted Living Center and Dr. Rowlet.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Private family inurnment will be held at Altoona Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Caring Hands Outreach Center in Altoona.

Linda was one of my favorite people on this Earth. Her witty charm kept me on my toes and she shared her hostas with me whenever she had extra (so every spring, lol). She loved her family fiercely and spoke to me often about all of you. I loved hearing about how the Christmas letter was "J" and how nothing in this world starts with the letter J. She will be missed, she is loved beyond measure. Prayers of comfort and tons of hugs coming your way

Dear Julie, Jill and Family:
My Aunt Linda, Your Mom and Grandmother, and I had known each other for over 55 years. She will be remembered by me as someone who was a favorite relative; light-hearted and always smiling. I enjoyed reading her Christmas letters about all her adventures and family. The last time we visited together was at the Des Moines Airport about six years ago. We talked about our past family experiences but mostly about her beloved and beautiful grandchildren! Aunt Linda, your grandmother, couldn't have been more proud than of you, her sweet Grand-Children! She will be remembered fondly. Your Cousin, Elfi (Lloyd) Shaak, Raleigh, NC
