Lawrence Riegel

Reverend Larry Riegel went home to be with His Savior and Lord early Wednesday, March 5, 2008. He was 70 years old. He was born Lawrence Edward Riegel on September 19, 1937 in Empress, Alberta, Canada.
Larry was a unique, fun-loving person with many talents. He was an accomplished musician. A graduate of Iowa State University, he studied architecture. In addition, he studied law at Drake University and received a theological degree from Garrett Evangelical Seminary near Chicago.
After working for IBM and the State of Nebraska, Larry became a United Methodist pastor in Iowa and served Three Rivers Parish at North English, the Villisca Iowa UMC, and concluded his ministry at Fort Des Moines United Methodist Church.
Larry dearly loved his three children: Michael Riegel (North English, IA), Steve Riegel (Lincoln, NE), Laura Merrill (Lincoln, NE) and his five grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Emma Riegel of Des Moines, his brother, Jim (wife, Darlene) of Kansas City, Missouri, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be announced at a future date.
