Geraldine Duncan

Geraldine “Gerry” Duncan, 76, of West Des Moines, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. The visitation will be held at 12:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday. There will also be a service held at the First United Methodist Church in Geneseo, IL on Saturday, March 8 at 10:30 AM, the visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo.
Gerry was born in Geneseo, IL on October 30, 1931 to Willard and Edna Torreyson. After high school graduation she became a Registered Nurse and later earned her BSN. She was a lifelong learner and a nurse for over 50 years. A very giving person she touched the lives of many through her volunteer work. For the past several years, she served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). Gerry also loved spending time with family and friends, who were a special part of her life. She enjoyed birds, flowers and sewing and played the violin in an octet string group for many years.
Geraldine is survived by her husband Bill of West Des Moines; sister, Virginia Gardner of Champaign IL; children, Michael (Mary) Duncan, Sharon (Bruce) Dreyer, Mark (Karen) Duncan and Kristin (Jeff) Carlson; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to the family for distribution to the First United Methodist Church in Geneseo, IL, and the Valley United Methodist Church in West Des Moines.
