Fern Lucille Rich, 93, was called home by her Lord and Savior on October 17, 2017.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment will follow at Glendale Cemetery. At Fern’s request a private family viewing will be held prior to services.
Fern was born on December 9, 1923 in Wellman, Iowa the sixth of nine siblings to Ralph and Katherine (Colby) Fuller. In March of 1942 Fern married the love of her life, Max Rich where after the war they moved to Des Moines to raise their family.
Fern was a member of the Eastside Church of the Nazarene. Beside her love and devotion to her Lord, Fern’s time was consumed by expressing her love and devotion to her husband and children, later including her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fern is survived by three sons, Randy (Linda) Rich, Dana Rich, and Dennis (Sandy) Rich; three daughters, Kathy (Jim) Nelson, Karen Rich, and Julie Rich; along with 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Aileen Blades; and sister-in-law, Ruth Fuller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Max; sons, Marlyn and Joe; her parents; seven siblings; and one great-great-grandson.
