George Rudasill

George Rudasill, 90, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be Monday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Staves United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Madison with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
George was born August 31, 1917 in Des Moines to Harry and Lulu (Reynolds) Rudasill. He worked at Hawkeye Cement Plant with his father before graduating from North High School. George served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII as an aviation engineer in Okinawa and Guam. After his return from the military, he worked for Northwestern Railroad. He was a U.S. mail carrier from 1946 until retirement in 1979.
George is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred; daughter, Virginia (Frank Kutchen) Mortenson; son, George E. Rudasill; sister, Lee Bauer; two grandsons, Eric and Andrew Mortenson; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Kyle Mortenson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vivian.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House or Staves United Methodist Church.
