Wilma Hazelbaker

Wilma Hazelbaker, 93, of Des Moines passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Wilma was born on May 17, 1924 to Sidney and Myrtle Cardwell in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Wilma worked for Younkers downtown for many years. She later worked for Sterns followed by Maurices at Southridge Mall. Wilma was a member of the Croatian Slavic Center and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Wilma is survived by her son, Bill (Deb) Edwards; step-son, Terry (Kathy) Hazelbaker; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; first husband, Lawrence Edwards; second husband, James Hazelbaker; and her daughter, Melinda Krieg.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A private graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
