Service Details

Natchio Vasquez, 83, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Kavanagh House on Grand. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Our Lady of Americas, Visitation Site, 1271 East 9th Street. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Newton.
Natchio was born on July 31, 1924 to Feliciano and Maria Vasquez in Newton. He served in the Army during WWII in the Philippines and worked over 40 years as a tool and die maker for John Deere. Natchio was a member of Our Lady of Americas, Visitation Site; VFW; and life member of IAM. He enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant; was an avid Hawkeye fan; and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Natchio is survived by his daughters, Mollie Vasquez and Nancy Saunders, both of Des Moines; sons, Natchio “Mac” (Shelly) Vasquez of North Glenn, CO, Martin (Theresa) Vasquez, Marcus (Kathy) Vasquez, and Regan (Mollie) Vasquez, all of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Gregory (Cherry), Daniel (Sally) and Manuel (Ione) Vasquez; and numerous nieces; nephews; and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalie Vasquez; great-granddaughter, Christina T. Vasquez; brothers, Raymond and Goyo Vasquez; and sisters, Connie Manning and Lupe Padilla.
Memorial contributions may be given to Kavanagh House on Grand or Our Lady of Americas Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., with rosary at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
