Faye Charlene McKinley

Charlene McKinley 73, died February 17, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial at Norwood Cemetery in Lucas County. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Charlene was born July 14, 1934 to George and Edith Ashby in Norwood, Iowa. She married Robert McKinley in 1955 and together raised three children in Des Moines before moving to Washington, IL in 1966. In 1981 Robert and Charlene moved back to Des Moines. Charlene was a dedicated nurse who worked in nursing homes in Illinois and Iowa before retirement. Charlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved music, animals, entertaining and especially her family. Char’s laughter brought many smiles to her family and friends and she will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Robert of Des Moines; Son, Randy (René) McKinley of Bloomington, IL; Daughter, Tammy (Steve) Neville of Farmington, NM; Son, Phillip (Janis) McKinley of Des Moines; Her grandchildren, Chris and Erin McKinley of Bloomington, IL and Brian and Krista Holcomb of Farmington, NM; Sisters, Ardys (Vic) Curtis of Des Moines and Margaret (Verne) Curtis of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marion Ashby and a sister, Alice Shaw.
