Gaylord Thomas Brooks

Gaylord T. Brooks, 77, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Gaylord was born January 11, 1931 in Des Moines to William and Ethel (Richards) Brooks. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Gaylord served as a Des Moines Police Officer and most recently was working for American Window and Siding Co. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved Henry J’s Tacos. Gaylord enjoyed going to his grandkid’s activities and Prairie Meadows. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and always being a jokester.
Gaylord is survived by his children, Deborah (David) Carter, Dianna (Tom) Anderson, Gaylord Craig (Deborah) Brooks, Ruby (Raymond) Modlin, Kimberly (Tim) Knapp, Debbie Lee and Ron Lee; sisters, Laura (Louis) Murillo and Shirley Hanlin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry; his parents, William and Ethel; two brothers, Billy and Dick; and two sisters, Betty and Helen.
