Dear McAninch Family,
I moved down to Clarke County in the Spring of 2004 and in May Eli and I bought some laying chickens from George. From that day on we were friends. I think he worried about how we would do with the chickens so he would stop at our farm and check on things. His stopping got to be regular and he would always give me pointers about the things we were raising. He knew something about the goats, the pigs or cows and I was always asking him questions. When I told him that I was going to marry Lisa (Oswald), he said that I would be a lucky man if she would marry me and that I should be real nice to her, cause he knew she was a real sweet girl. He loved our golden retrievers and sometimes I think he stopped to see them more than us. He was always bringing us tomatoes and things from his garden. Eli and I went over and helped him fix up a chicken coup one summer and Eli fell in love with one of his little rat terrior dogs which George immediately said that he could take home. Eli took it and named it Bandit. We are all going to miss him stopping and checking on the progress around the farm. He was a very thoughtful and friendly guy. In a way I am glad that George did not have to go to a home like my dad had to. He died in his boots which is not all bad.
With loving respect,
Jim,Lisa and Eli Lueders

Dear George's Family,
George was our friend and neighbor. He brought us many loaves of bread! Even a pickle now and then. He would show us a package of cherry rolls of some kind in the front seat. We would say, "George, Are you supposed to have those?" He would smile and say NO. He lived only approx. 2 miles from us. We would go to his house and watch him feed the chickens, look at his garden and his fruit trees. He loved the outdoors! He was always loading us up with something! He was a very giving man.
His favorite hang out was the Lucas C Store. Here he could get the latest gossip and hang out with the farmers and friends who stopped for a cup of coffee. This is where my husband hung out too!I believe the guys there had their own memorial service for George( imprompto of course)
I didn't know any of the family but I did meet one of his sons last summer at George's house.
He will be remembered fondly!
