Betty Kingery

Betty J. Kingery joined her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2008 after battling a long illness at Kavanagh House on 56th in Des Moines. Betty was born in Des Moines on June 13, 1928. Her life was dedicated to sharing her love with her family and friends and bringing grace to all who knew her. Betty graduated from East High in 1946. An accomplished pianist and organist, Betty enjoyed sharing her music throughout her life.
Betty is survived by her husband, Marion Kingery of Monroe; sons, Wayne Hodges and wife, Linda of Leonard, MI, Donald Hodges and wife, Helen of League City, TX; daughters, Betsy Hulen of Kansas City, MO and Nancy Newman and husband, Dean of West Des Moines; stepsons, David Kingery and wife, Betty and Jim Kingery and wife,Cathy; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lloyd and Violet Speck of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines; burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, The American Cancer Society or Kavanagh House on 56th.
