Billy Ray Dodd

Billy Ray Dodd, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. He was born November 14, 1942 to Ollie and Willie Dodd in Lutts, Tennessee.
Billy spent most of his career in California at Arcturus as a forger where he manufactured and assembled for the aerospace industry. In Iowa, he was self-employed and owned rental properties and a hauling business until he retired.
Billy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time volunteering at Lake Red Rock. He was incredibly grateful for his family and life-long friendships he had developed over the years.
Billy leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Elaine; children, Brenda, Jessie (Chris), Bridget (Paul), David (Michelle), and Sandra (Monty), thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Karen Kay Dodd; parents; and nine siblings.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3601 East Court Avenue, Des Moines. Per his request, his body has been cremated prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Health Cardiology. 1301 Pennsylvania Ave Ste 100, Des Moines, IA 50316 to benefit those who need financial assistance.
