Dolores J. Caldbeck, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She was born on May 3, 1931 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Homer and Ann (Vande Voorde) Evans.
Dolores graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, (formerly the Iowa State Teachers College). She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Des Moines Chapter of the Iowa Council of the United Blind (ICUB). She loved being a mother and was very devoted to her children. In her younger years, Dolores enjoyed square dancing.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kenneth (Suzanne), Garry (Debra) and Deborah Caldbeck; grandsons, Brenton (Natalia) and Ryan (Alyssa) Caldbeck; great-granddaughter, Olivia Caldbeck; brothers, Larry (Shirley), Richard (Norma) and Gregory Evans; sister, Camilla (Richard) Coy; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Butler Caldbeck; her parents; daughters, Anna and Joan Caldbeck; and her brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Evans.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, September 29th with the Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, celebrated at 11 a.m. Dolores will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

I was just thinking today of the woman who was so important to me as a child...who provided a safe, warm and loving home for me to visit...I hope she and her family knew how she dear she was to me.

My condolences to the family. She lives on in the lives of those who survive her, both in her example and in the way she raised her children. She will be missed, especially by those close to her. My sympathy to all.

The world has lost one very special Lady. Our prayers go out to her cherished children and family and friends. Nothing stopped her, if she didn't know she worked till she did. Once more with Tom and her youngest daughters knowing her spirit would always be with those left behind, Kenny, Garry, & Debbie. Blessings to all her family.
