Ann M. Soroka

Ann Marie Soroka, 52, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, at her home in Des Moines. Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 27 and funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 28. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Ann was born July 24, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was passionate about her job with the Department of Human Services, serving children and families for 16 years, making their lives safer and better. She was the first social worker to refer a case to BACA – Bikers Against Child Abuse – opening doors for more families to be assisted by this organization.
She is survived by her son, Samuel; parents, Alan and V. Janean Soroka; siblings, Alan (Trieu) Soroka, Jr. and Jennifer Donielson (fiancé, Robert Weir); nephews, Nicholas and Tyler Donielson; five great-nieces, Lillian, Peyton, Erica, Tayler and Riley Donielson; great-nephew, Brody Donielson; special friend, Bob Goodlaxson; and her best 4-legged friend, Miss Bella.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to benefit her son’s education.
