Esther Stout

Esther Stout completed her journey here and was greeted in heaven on September 18, 2017. Esther was the daughter of Raymond and Minnie Humphrey. She grew up in Maysville, Arkansas on the family farm, eventually moving to Des Moines, Iowa, marrying the love of her life, Sheldon Stout in 1960. Sheldon and Esther made a wonderful life together and loved everyone who entered their life. You couldn’t know them and not have a brownie made by Esther.

They treasured time spent with family and friends, opening their antique shop in Walnut Iowa a few days a week, traveling to their home in Arizona in the winters, and attending church at New Hope United Methodist Church.

Esther was proceeded in death by her infant son and will be greatly missed her husband Sheldon, daughters Shelly (Dave) Thompson, Renee LePera, and Bobbie Hill, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, and many, many wonderful other family members and friends.

The family will greet friends at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines on Thursday, September 21 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church on Friday, September 22 at 10:30, followed by a luncheon and graveside service. Memorial contributions in honor of Esther may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church.
