Merle Beermann, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, surrounded by family. Merle was born on July 24, 1936, in Paullina, Iowa to Norma and Walter Beermann.
Merle served as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, he completed 27 jumps, and witnessed 4 atomic bomb testing’s during his time of being a Paratrooper. Merle had a love for gardening, fishing and spending time with his family and friends during his retirement in Lakeview, Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janice Kay Beermann; children, Kathy (Don) Elliott, Ken (Virda) Beermann, Randy Fleming, Kevin Fleming, and Brian (Carol) Schulz; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Norma Beermann; step-dad, Hans Andersen; and siblings.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017, with memorial service following at 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Private Graveside Service at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.

We are so very sorry for your loss, Merle is in heaven now with Mom (Beverly) and Burt. And some day we will all meet again!! Our prayers go out to your family, it is definitely very hard when you loose someone that you love and care for so much!! Just rejoice that he is in a much better place at this time..RIP Merle.

I am so very sorry for your loss, mom (Bev) loved you Jan and merle I am sure she and burt welcomed Merle greatly through those golden gates, and together they will watch over you although I am not able to make it to the services please know my heart and prayers go to you all, this has been a very rough year for our families. Embrace the love and comfort from all. Losing a loved one is an overwhelming heartache that we know all to well. God bless your family. R.I.P. MERLE
