Louise (Susie) Warren

Louise Warren, age 96, of Des Moines, died Wednesday morning, September 13, 2017, at home from cardiac arrest.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m., Monday, September 18, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes Iowa.

Louise “Susie” was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 29, 1921, minutes before her twin sister, Lois, to Roy and Hazel Crum. She grew up around the Ankeny area on farms and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1938. Louise married Merle (Slim) Warren in 1940 before he joined the Army. She worked at the ordinance plant during the war while he was overseas. He returned in 1945. They lived in Des Moines all of their 70 years of marriage.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Dennis) Smith; sons, Gary (Penni) Warren, Dennis Warren, and Larry (Cherie) Warren; many grandchildren; special nieces, Sandy Reier, Carol Kleis, and Karen Cutler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; her daughter, Judy Marvin; sister, Lois Reier; and grandson, Ronnie Babb, Jr.
