Roy D Smith, Sr.

Roy D. Smith, 71, died at his home Monday, February 4, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Roy was born December 14, 1936 in Des Moines to John and Virginia Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Roy was a retired truck driver, after his retirement from trucking, he worked as a security guard at Adventureland Inn in Altoona until 1995.
Roy is survived by his children, Ronnie Smith, Renee (Ronnie) Gilliam, Cindy (Max) Wood, Charolett (Dennis) Thompson, David Smith and Roy (Sanja) Smith; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erlene R. Smith.
