Service Details
Mary L. Smalley, 93, passed away on September 10, 2017, at Trinity Center at Luther Park. She was born October 18, 1923, and was raised in Carney. Mary worked for the Ankeny School District for 30 years.
Mary is survived by her three children, Cindy (Lee) Lundstrom, Randy (Sharon) and Jerry; two sisters, Margaret Yori and Joanne Elwell; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William; and granddaughter, Christina.
Services will be Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Oralabor Cemetery.
To honor Mary, please dress casually in your blue jean attire.

We are so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. We won't be able to attend the funeral as we will be in Nebraska. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days ahead. We knew Mary Lou (& Bill) from VFW 9662 where Mary Lou served many years as Auxiliary Treasurer. Over the years, Mary Lou would remind me that she worked with my grandmother at Iowa Packing in the late 50's or early 60's. Always enjoyed working with her in kitchen. Carol
