Orval E. McNeeley, Jr.
Des Moines
Orval Eugene McNeeley, Jr., 62, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Orval was born July 15, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Orval and Betty (Berry) McNeeley, Sr. He proudly served in the U. S. Air Force and continued to be patriotic his entire life. He had an avid interest in motorcycle and guns. Some of his passions included spending time outdoors and listening to Blues music. Orval married Sandura “Penny” Jones on June 7, 1997, and they made their home in Des Moines where he was employed as a diesel mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy “Penny” McNeeley; children, Orval McNeeley III (Misty), Valerie Scott (Kenny), Megan Moncher, Zachary McNeeley, Stuart McNeeley, Hilary Waller and Zachary Waller; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Timmy McNeeley (Claudia), Frank Wilson, Rick Wilson, Kathy Damp (Wayne), Julie, and Jackie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa. A celebration of life will follow at American Legion – Baldwin Patterson Post 274, 2211 E 42nd Street, Des Moines.

Mac, I always had a special place in my heart for you. I remember the fun times at our house in Downey Ca, when you and Walter would BBQ, & work in the yard, he loved talking to you, sharing stories, relaxing & having a beer together. You were his buddy. We treasured many memories with you.

Back in the early day of the air Force Mac drove me to the Hospital when I was in labor. I think he was more scare than me, as he was yelling at everyone to move over.
