James Link

James M. Link, 81, went to be with the Lord, Monday, February 4, 2008 at Valley View Village Care Center. James was born on March 18, 1926 in Centerville, Iowa to Opal and Ralph Link.
Jim worked for John Deere for 27 years before retiring in 1985. James was a member of the Iowa Lapidary Society and the Mr. and Mrs. Club at Des Moines YMCA.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn; daughters, Janice (David) Powell and Ann (Jerry) Gathercole; son, Bryan (Ruth) Link; sister, Mildred DeVore; grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Vorhies, Amanda (Zach Jones) Shirley, Michael Conlin and Shane Conlin; great grandchild, Jillian Vorhies; step grandchildren, Steven Wise, Alyssa Wise, Roxanna Bailiff and Danielle Powell and step great-grandchildren, Nicholas Wise and Jada Floyd.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Slater Cemetery, Slater Iowa.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the YMCA of Greater Des Moines (for support for memberships for families of deployed military personnel).
