After a four year battle with cancer, Jim passed away on February 4, 2008.

He served on the Advisory Board of the International Lineman’s Rodeo Association for 18 years and was the Master Judge for the event held in Kansas City each fall. Jim was a member of the H.O.G. clubs in Des Moines and Indianola and a member of ABATE.
In 1960, Jim married Ruth Hanson and they had two children, Brenda and Steve. Jim was active in Boy Scouts, camping, canoeing and a volunteer member of the Camping Services Committee with Girl Scouts, Moingona Council. He was the fun loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and remained close friends with Ruth and her family throughout his life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Evelyn Morgan; son, Steve (Lori) of Viera, Florida; daughter, Brenda Hamilton of Des Moines, and grandson, Logan Jones of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, J.P. Morgan and his mother-in-law, Margeurite Morgan, all of Knoxville.
Jim loved his job and his friends. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, scuba diving and motorcycling. Jim and Evelyn also enjoyed their Springer Spaniels, Magic and Star, whether they were hunting, swimming in a Canadian lake or asleep in front of the TV.

Committal services of the cremains will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa in the spring.
Ride safe, Hambone.

I was honored to know Jim and to work with him on the International Lineman's Rodeo Advisory Board. His care for others and positive outlook on life were contagious. I will remember the positive impression he made on my life, and wish Evelyn and other family members God's strength and love. God Speed Jim.

We were so sorry to hear about Jim. Gordon and Jim knew each other for a very long time. When Jim's folks lived on Lincoln where Jim's dad have the carpet cleaning business Jim and Gordon used to play in Mr. Hamilton's garage. Jim was always smiling and was so very polite.I know he will be missed.
Our condolences to all of you.
Our Best,

I wanted to let you know how sad I was to hear of Jim's passing. I had known him through the International Lineman's Rodeo Association for, it seems like, forever. I sit on the Board of Directors and I can tell you that Jim was always a willing and valuable addition to the volunteer administration of the organization as an Advisory Committee Member and to the organization as a whole in his various roles as a judge. More importantly than that though Jim was always a good friend, had seemingly boundless energy and enthusiasm for anything he did and was honest and straightforward. Maybe most importan of all Jim seemed to almost always be happy and seemed to enjoy life most all of the time. A rare gift nowadays. I'm certain you, his family, are feeling his loss most keenly but know that many of the rest of the people he touched will miss him as well. Be strong for one another and remember, I think and I think Jim would agreee, in his case it really is all about celebrating a life well and fully lived and lived with joy.

There are no words to express the loss we all feel. I am thankful that Jim was such a vital person in my life. He left lots of footprints on my heart and I will treasure the memories of all the rodeo times we shared. He was a great mentor and a brother I loved dearly. I will miss him but never forget him!
