Kay Elaine Hills

Kay Elaine Hills, 79, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.

She was born October 6, 1937 in Hampton, Iowa to Fred and Theresa (Pollen) Crandall.
Theresa was later divorced and then remarried to Harold Irons who helped raised Kay and her siblings.

Kay enjoyed spending time with her family and the many pets she loved and cared for through the years especially her beloved cat Spunky who was pure white and would ride on her shoulders as she did her housework. Kay loved books and was an avid reader in her younger days and as anyone who knew her would tell you, had a strong fighting spirit that could hardly be subdued!

Kay is survived by her husband Donald D. Hills; son Donald S. Hills (Lynda); Grandchildren Kara (Travis), Don Allen and Derrik (Jessica); as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Theresa; brother Larry and sisters Mary and Sue.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona and will conclude with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Family will greet guests for an hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 pm.
