Lori Michelle Hoffman

Lori Michelle Hoffman was born in Des Moines on September 3, 1964. She passed away August 22, 2017 at the age of 52.

Lori was a Lincoln High School graduate. She earned her CNA Certification at DMACC. Lori worked in the nursing field as a caretaker for most of her adult life. She married Bob Hoffman in 1991. Lori enjoyed drawing and shopping. She loved her dogs and volunteering at Ape Cognition & Conservation Initiative (ACCI). While volunteering at ACCI, she would spend countless hours with the bonobos, she especially enjoyed her time with Teco.

Lori is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bob Hoffman; children, Michael, Abba, James (Kasey) and Sean (Lizette) Hoffman; grandchildren, Kameryn, Aliyah, Kourtney and Bruce Hoffman; mother, Patricia (Don) Gibbs; siblings, Ferrall (Julie) Burgett and Kimberly Manders; close friend, Lisa Proctor; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Burgett, Jr.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 28th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ape Cognition & Conservation Initiative or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Lori.
