Kerry Ashley

Kerry Lynn Ashley, age 66, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Kerry was born January 14, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ralph and Ruth Ashley. She graduated from Hoover High School and earned a degree in data entry from Des Moines Area Community College. Kerry worked as a bartender at Amvets Post 2 and at VFW Post 9127, where she was also a lifelong member. She retired from French Way Cleaners on Douglas Avenue. Kerry had a passion for NASCAR and loved her PBR beer.
Kerry is survived by her children, Ernie (Brenda Person) Williams, Earlina (Kelvin Kloehn) Crooks, Kristie Hollingsworth, Diane (Curtis Voshell) Baze, Dale Crooks and Robert Crooks; grandchildren, Ashley, James, Jena, Tif, Joe, Rafe, Varley, Christopher, Curtis, Lacey, Hope Marie, Robert Jr., Austin and Abigail; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Toni Bishop; cousin, Babe; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Amvets Post 2 Ladies Auxiliary, Taylor House Hospice, or to the family.
