Service Details
Leo Waterhouse, 95, passed away at Taylor House Hospice on August 10, 2017, from complications of COPD. He was born May 1, 1922, in Ottumwa, Iowa, son of Glenn and Jesse Waterhouse.
Leo is survived by his son, Bill; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; companion and care giver, Mary Van Horn; as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; daughters, Carolyn and Dianne; and three siblings.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. Private family interment will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions will be received by the family for a memorial in the future.

I'm one of Louise Waterhouse Engel's daughters. She had a special affection for Leo. I think those cousins got together often when they were younger, plus the two of them were very close in age. Her birthday was August 7, 1922. My mom was so literal and Leo was such a tease he could always get a rise out of her before she figured out he was just teasing. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
