James Marvin Rife, age 80, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
James was born June 22, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Lucille (Davidson) Rife.
His main occupation during his working years was as a construction worker and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
James is survived his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and a host of other family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Etta Inez Davis Rife
Cremation will occur at Hamilton’s Crematory with a celebration of his life at a later date.

Uncle Jimmy, I've known you for such a long time, and I look back over the years and think about the laughter and jokes that always came wherever you were. Then in later years when I got to know you with Ms Etta and Keisha - I got to see the love you had for them and how you cherished them in your own way. Keisha - I know your going to miss the man you looked up to as your father, just remember he loved & cherished you always.

Grampy, Grampy Grampy my old guy lol... I'm so lost for words but here I go with my big mouth. Lol. Over the years I got in trouble with Keisha like I was your child too. Comin by just to hear you say There goes that spooky! From words of encouragement to telling me I was too fat lol, to saying stay strong. I'm going to miss hearing you cuss folks out lol, giving people that look like only you can, laughing at and with me. I love you Grampy! May you rest peacefully. Tell Mama I love and miss her too. I will keep all my wonderful memories and hold my Keisha and kids dear as you did.

Uncle Jimmy, it's been a wonderful life with you it's been a blessing to have you in my life don't get me wrong you will always be in my life. I love you and will always miss you. RIP.
