Nova Logsdon

Mr. Nova Logsdon, age 94, passed away peacefully at Taylor House Hospice on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the services.
Nova was born January 7, 1923, in Livonia, Missouri, the son of John and Alpha (Johnson) Logsdon. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the 546th Automatic Weapon Battalion in Eton, France and in the 65th Division where he saw action in France, Germany, Austria, and in Belgium for the Battle of the Bulge.
Nova worked for National Steel as a truck driver until his retirement. He loved to spend time outdoors, was an avid walker, and always talked about going back to the Honky-Tonk in “Mendotee”.
Nova is survived by his sons, Nova Eugene Logsdon (Chris) and Alan Logsdon (Marsan); grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Stephanie, Alan Jr., and Shawn Jr.; great-grandson, Marshall; his dog, Andre; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alpha; wife, Maxine; and his siblings, Bert, Vaughn, Vern, Donnell, Dorothy, and Glen.

I was saddened to learn of the death of Amanda's grandfather. I am sorry for Alan's family for the loss of his father. May his sole rest in peace. Our prayers are with your family.
