Lyle Goodson
July 29, 2017
Lyle Laverne Goodson, 55, was taken suddenly from his family on Friday, July 28, 2017.
He was born November 6, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Junior and Sally (Harvey) Goodson. He graduated from Adel Desoto High School in 1980. Lyle was very athletic and played football and ran track during his high school years. Lyle liked to say that his biggest accomplishment was becoming a father. He loved his family and his son, Kody was his pride and joy.
Lyle was an outdoorsman and he loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed the time he spent at his lake house at Lake Rathbun with his faithful companion, his dog Morgan. He was extremely hard working and was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially with his handiwork. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lyle is survived by his son, Kody Goodson, father, Junior (Maren) Goodson, siblings, Lisa (Joe) Sztukowski, Laura (Frank) Samuell, Angie (Mark) Evoy, George Rudkin, and Ronda Wilson, as well as many other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Rudkin.
There will be a celebration of life Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Sambetti’s, 1430 2nd Ave, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his son in care of Hamilton's Funeral Home.

If you weren't part of Lyle's inner circle, you probably didn't know a whole lot of detail about his life. He was a quiet and private kind of person, although mostly light-hearted and helpful. At work, he was always a hard worker, always wanting the job to be done right the first time. Sadly, we didn't know any of Lyle's family, but our hearts go out to all of you, and Becky especially, for this incredible loss!! If there's anything you need, let us know.
We're here for you!! Lyle is another friend gone way too soon, and will surely be missed by everyone who knew him!! Rest in peace man...

Lyle was one of my first friends after starting at the post office 18 years ago. My husband Tom, and I, considered Lyle a very good friend, and he was always an important person in our life. We have many good memories of spending time with him, whether it was just hanging out or riding four wheelers. Just being around him made anything you were doing more fun. That's the kind of person he was. To lose him has been devastating to us. He will be missed beyond words.
Our love and condolences go out to Kody, Lyle's girlfriend and partner, Becky Ulrich, and the rest of his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

No one could ever ask for a better best friend than Lyle. He was a loyal friend who would always want to help with any project. After my retirement I missed his friendship and he kept wanting to set up a time to play golf. If you keep putting things off you will never get there. I should have made the time. You will be missed Lyle.

I've heard several stories about the years that Nick & Lyle were roommates in Elk City OK & then again in DeSoto IA. However most of the stories can't be shared online. I'm so glad I got to meet Lyle after Nick & I were married. All of us spent lots of time together when both our sons were little. Lyle had a great sense of humor & a mischievous smile. He was always willing to lend a hand, when we bought our 1st home Lyle helped fix some drywall issues. However the entire time he was helping he harassed Nick about how terrible he drywalled & telling him not to quit his day job. I'm very sorry that we lost touch with Lyle in recent years. Nick was devastated when we heard the news. We have spent the last couple of days reminiscing. I hope the memories that all of you have will bring you comfort as well.
