Bill Brokofsky

William “Bill” D. Brokofsky, age 63, passed away on July 24, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines due to injuries sustained in an accidental fall. He was born on April 26, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Gilbert and Geraldine (Atkinson) Brokofsky.

Bill graduated from East High School and was a self-employed painter for most of his working years. He was a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and was very proud of his Native American heritage. He enjoyed camping, Frisbee golf, listening to Golden Oldies music, and watching Young and the Restless.

He is survived by his son, Joshua Brokofsky; long-time companion, Ronda Cameron; brothers, Bob (Cara) Brokofsky and John Brokofsky; sisters, Barb Plowman, Bonnie (Bob) Lyon, and Sharon Lewis-Brokofsky; special nephew, Brandon (Melina Strayhorn) Brokofsky; and many other beloved nieces and nephews and a host of other extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Geraldine Brokofsky; brother-in-law, Gary Plowman; and his niece Kara Brokofsky.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
